It’s our 5th birthday!!

Can you believe it? The emerald + ella store has been trading for 5 years this month. Wow, where has the time gone?! It feels like the online world has changed dramatically over that time and I have learnt so so much. Growing up I never expected that I would be muddling my way through meta data and photoshop editing tools and learning about widgets, …

No-sew heart banner

These fun heart banners make great engagement party or wedding decorations. They look super pretty hanging from trees and bushes too. And of course, due to my lack of patience in the sewing room, the banner doesn’t require any sewing! It’s all just iron and glue work! So easy, even the most amateur crafter can have a go. As always, you can mix up the …

Lime, coconut and ginger-infused rum

So infused rum sounds fancy doesn’t it? It’s sure to wow the pants off your party guests when you tell them you flavoured your own tipple! Plus this tropical-infused booze is really easy to make, you just need to start a week ahead of time. And of course you can then serve it up in a pineapple, coconut or even (gasp!) a glass.

Tomato, celery and pepper-infused vodka

This savoury infused vodka is perfect for those day-after brunches when everyone is nursing a sore head. Or pop little bottles of it in a hangover kit for your bridesmaids. Serve it straight-up over ice and you have yourselves a low-cal bloody-tini. But it’s also yummy with a splash of soda or add it to tomato juice for an easy bloody mary.

Strawberry heart pie pops

How sweet are these strawberry-filled pie pops?! They are super fun for a kitchen tea or bridal shower. Can’t you imagine the pics now? All the ladies in their pretty dresses eating dainty heart-shaped pies. They would also be great as part of a dessert buffet.

Salted date caramels

Okay so I got you in here with ‘salted caramel’ didn’t I? Well I’m glad you came because these date caramels (made by moi!) from recently released Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook – Eating Well – are not only delicious but they are also paleo, vegan, gluten-, dairy-, egg- and sugar-free!!! So as well as this gem of a recipe I am also sharing some pretty …

Hot chocolate on a stick

As I was making these I was imagining a beautiful white winter wedding with the bride draped in faux fur and snowflakes drifting from the sky. In reality, most Australian winter weddings are probably in lovely crisp sunshine but a girl can dream can’t she? Either way, your wedding guests will love these orange-spiked hot chocolate favours. So simple to make and so delicious when …

Couscous and dill crusted snapper

Yay! Another Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook I worked on has been released and this one is a goodie! It’s called Express and all the recipes are fast, fresh and on the table in less than 40 minutes. What’s also cool about this book is that chapters are divided up into recipes for one person, two people or the whole family plus of course there are …

Tomato and tamarind chutney

This chutney makes the most of the abundant summer tomatoes that are around at the moment. If you are lucky enough to have a farmer’s market nearby you might even be able to pick them up by the case. Package the chutney into jars as wedding favours for your guests or just make a big batch for friends and family. They will be super impressed …
