I have been hearing loads about this fun gelato shop ever since it opened but for some reason only just made it down to Chinatown for a visit. The store resembles a mad scientist’s workshop and according to their bio they are “a bunch of mad scientists who are passionate about enticing our tastebuds with exotic blend of flavours through gelato”, so it kind of makes sense! At N2 they use liquid nitrogen to freeze your chosen gelato before your eyes.
The selection of flavours is unlike any you would encounter at a normal gelato shop, and this is what makes it right up my alley. Check out the menu board for those that were on offer when we went. Keep in mind it was Mardi Gras weekend!
We went with Golden Showers (lime sorbet, tequila, salt and pepper) and Pretzella Queen of the Dessert (nutella and pretzel). Both were really tasty. I liked that the tequila one had a good drizzle of syrup on top which worked with the sprinkling of salt and pepper. The pretzel had a good mix of salty and sweet and came with 2 long pretzel sticks poking out the top, which were good for dipping and licking.
My only dislike was that I am not a huge sweet person (gasp! I know!). I like to taste lots of flavours in little serves rather than just one big serve of one flavour. And at N2 there seems to be only one size and it’s quite big, check out the tequila one below.
Other than that though, I love the concept and like that they are breaking rules with new flavour combos so we will definitely be going back.
